Dallas woman arrested for trying to sell her baby in the newspaper

I still believe there should be a committee established to decide who should be allowed to conceive children. Especially after this! Hip Hop Wired reports:

The state of Texas is getting a bad rap, thanks in part to a Dallas woman has been arrested on suspicion of trying to sell her newborn in the newspaper. Brittany Hill, 26, was arrested on Child Abandonment charges Friday (June 22). She placed her 4-month-old son for sale for the bargain price of $4,000, but was busted when a potential customer saw the ad, and contacted police.

Hill was arrested after returning to the Shadow Ridge apartments, where she left her child alone in a crib. Apartment managers entered Hill's unit to collect rent, when they found the baby all alone.

Neighbors who witnessed her arrest were disturbed by the turn of events.  "I just think it's a very sad situation, and I'm glad that the baby is safe and away from those people," said Latonia Smith. "I saw her when she was pregnant, and she just seemed to be very depressed, always alone sitting on the stairway."
Another neighbor, Omara Muhammad, said that she would have helped Hill had she asked. "I'd have been there for her if I had known all of this," said Muhammad.  "I'm not working; I'm a senior citizen. I'm home 24-7."

The infant is safe from further child abuse and, has been placed in the care of Child Protective Services.
