Former pro wrestler Andre Davis convicted for spreading HIV

Apparently, people haven't gotten the memo that HIV doesn't have a cure yet, because people are still not protecting themselves. Hip Hop Wired reports:

Former professional wrestler Andre Davis, who wrestled under the name "Gangsta Of Love" and "Sweet Sexy Sensation", has been convicted by a jury in Cincinnati, Ohio of charges that he had sex with women without telling them that he knew he had tested postive for the virus that causes AIDS.

Davis was convicted on 14 counts of felonious assault after he didn't tell 12 sex partners about his HIV status or lied to them.

According to the Associated Press, the women testified they had unprotected sex with Davis.

Defense attorneys challenged whether it was proved Davis was HIV-positive and suggested the women were promiscuous.

World Wrestling Entertainment told Davis in 2009 it wouldn't hire him because he failed a physical by testing positive for HIV.

Davis faces up to 120 years in prison and is facing more charges in two other Ohio counties.

And to top it off, he was busted by his baby moms who found his paperwork and told the other women.

Under Ohio law people who know they are infected with HIV are required to inform potential sexual partner.

The judge in the case prohibited attorneys from revealing whether any of the women were infected.

Three Six Mafia Member, Juicy J signs to Taylor Gang

Another rap legend signs to another young rapper's imprint. According to the latest reports, as of November 28, Juicy J is officially the newest member of Wiz Khalifa's group/imprint, Taylor Gang Records. Allhiphop reports:

“It’s just a blessing, I’ve been doing this for over 20 years and people still embracing me and like my music and listen to me like I’m a brand new artist, so its amazing for me man,” Juicy J. told AllHipHop.com.

The Memphis bred/LA based rapper told AllHipHop.com that the Taylor Gang signing is real and that they are planning a tour compromised of select dates across the country.

“Yea man it’s going down, that’s it, it’s real, it’s done, I’m in. That’s my brother, we going on the road and we gonna impact,” the new Taylor Gang signee explained.

Juicy also gave fans an update on the possibility of a new Three Six Mafia album, which should be released in 2012.

Another univeristy affected by sexual abuse allegations

In the wake of the sexual abuse allegations that side-swiped Penn State, other child molestation allegations have hit Syracuse University.

A couple of weeks ago, Bobby Davis, who is now 39, came forward and accused Bernie Fine, Syracuse assistant basketball coach of molesting him as a young boy.

In the following weeks, 2 other alleged victims have come forward making the same accusations against Fine. The other two being Mike Lang, 45, Davis' stepbrother, who says he was molested as a child into his adulthood and Zach Tomaselli, 23, a boy from Maine who claims he was molested by Fine in 2002 at a hotel in Pittsburgh while on a road trip with the team. Ironically, Tomaselli is currently facing sexual assault charges in Maine involving a 14-year-old boy.

This past Sunday, ESPN aired a taped phone call between Davis and Laurie Fine, wife of Bernie Fine, who Davis also claims to have been sexually invloved with when he was 18. The phone call reveals that she was fully aware of her husband's transgressions involving Davis and suspected that he wasn't the only victim.

Former Cash Money Rapper could possibly face 10 years in prison

It looks like former Cash Money rapper, B.G. (born Christopher Dorsey) will have his day in court next month, following a 2009 arrest where he and 2 other associates were pulled over in a stolen Chevy Tahoe. After searching the SUV, police uncovered three guns and two loaded magazines and two extended clips. Though he has plead not guilty to gun charges and obstruction of justice charges, if convicted he might receive a 10 year prison sentence. AllHipHop reports:

In May of 2011, prosecutors charged BG, Fedison and a third man named Demounde Pollard, with conspiracy.

Earlier this week one of the three men, 29-year-old Jerod Fedison, was sentenced to 22 years in prison for the incident.

BG and Fedison are accused of attempting to coerce Pollard into taking the blame for possession of all three guns.

Of the three men, Pollard, who was 17 at the time of his arrest, was the only one without a criminal record.

Prosecutors claim they caught Fedison on a recorded call from prison, instructing Pollard’s girlfriend to take the charges the importance of the issue.

Pollard eventually agreed to take the charges, but he later began cooperating with authorities.

He is currently serving 30 months in prison.

BG is a convicted felon who has been arrested multiple times over the years.

The rapper, who has a lenghy rap sheet for drugs and other charges, will stand trial on December 12.

Wyclef Jean responds to allegations made by the New York Post

Wyclef Jean's Yele Haiti organization has come under scrutiny once again. A New York Post article questions the way the non-profit organization has handled funds raised for Haiti after the 7.0 earthquake that struck the island a few years ago and killed around 300,000 people.

According to The New York Post, out of the $16 million dollars Yele Haiti raised in 2010, only $5.1 went to the country.

The article goes on to make some pretty strong allegations including that almost $400,000 went to a company owned by Wyclef’s brother-in-law Warnel Pierre. The article also claims another million went to Amisphere Farm Labor Inc., a food company "that does not exist" and a man named Amsterly Pierre that ran this food distribution company, allegedly purchased three upscale condos in Florida.

Yele also allegedly rented a residence for company workers, at an inflated price of $35,000 per-month.

In a letter to AllHipHop.com, Wyclef address these allegations and denies any wrong-doing. Here's an excerpt from the letter:

The NY Post piece entitled, “Questions Dog Wyclef’s Haiti Fund” is misleading, deceptive and incomplete. The Post conveniently fails to acknowledge that the decisions that Yele made were a response to one of the world’s most catastrophic natural disasters in modern history and required an immediate humanitarian response.

There were no roads, no clean water, no sanitation, no banks, no electricity, no infrastructure. Immediate decisions were made to save lives and alleviate suffering. We made decisions that enabled us to provide emergency assistance in the midst of chaos and we stand by those decisions. We did the best we could with the available resources.

I am proud of the way that Yele handled the crisis on the ground in 2010. We were able to feed, clothe, provide medical assistance and shelter for more than 250 thousand people in need.

What the article doesn’t say is that the construction projects funded by Yele Haiti were responsible for rebuilding an orphanage, building a temporary assistance facility, and had constructed a system of out door toilet and shower facilities in Cite Soliel one of the largest slums in Port-au-Prince.

The Post never highlights that Amisphere Farm Labor was responsible for preparing and delivering close to 100,000 meals.

Former Bad Boy rapper Loon, jailed over drug trafficking

Former Bad Boy artist Loon has been arrested on drug charges. HipHopWired reports:

Loon, real name Chauncey Hawkins, was reportedly arrested in Brussels on heroin trafficking charges this week.

According to paper The Parlamento, officials used the 'Patriot Act' to extradite the rapper who previously converted to Islam and lived in Algeria with his family.

On November 22 however, he was extradited while on his way to give a lecture.There are reports that the rapper was being watched by the DEA from 2006-2008.

Reps for Loon have yet to release a statement on the charges.

The NBA FINALLY ends the lockout

Well, after a long wait and much public scrutiny, it looks as if the NBA owners and players have finally settled on terms both sides can agree upon.

According to reports, NBA owners and players reached a tentative agreement on Saturday to end the 149-day lockout and look to begin a 66-game season on Christmas Day. ESPN reports:

After a secret meeting earlier this week, the sides met for more than 15 hours Friday, working to try to save the season. This handshake deal, however, still must be ratified by both owners and players.

Stern said it was "subject to a variety of approvals and very complex machinations, but we're optimistic that will all come to pass and that the NBA season will begin Dec. 25."

They are hoping to open training camp and free agency on December 9th and begin the season with a triple-header featuring the Celtics taking on the Knicks, the Heat meeting up with the Mavericks, and Chicago Bulls going against the Lakers.

Ja Rule writes his first letter from prison

Does anyone remember Ja Rule? I know it's been a while since we heard from Ja, but that's because he is currently serving a 28-month prison sentence for failing to file tax returns for three years.

Ja plans to release a monthly journal letter, so he can stay in touch with his fans.

In Ja's first letter from prison, he describes the scene of a suicide attempt he witnessed while being locked up.

Here's an excerpt:

"A young kid comes in today they put him in the 18 cell right next to mine he looked kinda depressed coming in but nothing out of the ordinary a few hours go past and all of a sudden I hear someone choking he's trying to kill his self. We all heard it everyone runs to their cell doors and start kicking,banging, calling the CO's. Now I've seen a person get shot and I've even seen someone die from a drug overdose but this was different this was suicide. It was like I can hear the life leaving his body the CO's rush in the cell they saved him."

Ja continues to describe the scene:

"After they brought him back to his cell in the suicide suit he cried for hours we tried to console him telling him it's never that bad to wanna kill yourself. Turns out he just turned 18 and got his girl friend who is only 16 and her parents pressed charges and now he's locked up on sex offender charges. He was in school for graphic arts to learn how to make video games. It's sad cause he's still a kid himself a good kid at that and now he'll be forever labeled rapist or sex offender when really he's probably just a kid in love. Wow it's crazy how 2 years can be so close but yet so far when your 18 & 16 it seems far because he's now an adult and she's still a teen, but when your 10 & 12 it's cute and innocent and when your 18 & 20 nobody gives a f*ck. It makes me think about Britt and her starting to date I'm not gonna lie at 18 & 16 I'd be at a cross road to but to ruin a young mans life & stain his future is not rite."

Russell Simmons defends Jay-Z's "Occupy" shirts

Well it seems that the reports of Rocawear pulling the "Occupy All Streets" t-shirt was premature. What actually happened is the shirts sold out on the site.

Allhiphop reports that Russell Simmons wanted to defend Jay-Z and Rocawear's decision to sell the shirts:

“What’s wrong with selling goodness? There’s nothing wrong with it,” Russell Simmons said.

“Jay-Z didn’t make a T-shirt [that said] ‘F**k the Bums on the Street,” Simmons continued. “He wrote a T-shirt ‘Occupy All Streets’ – I’m happy, it furthers the movement, it inspires the movement.”

Simmons, who is worth over $250 million dollars, has also been the subject of criticism for his association with Occupy Wall Street.

But the mogul defended his fortune, by noting his track record for consistently giving back to poor and disenfranchised people around the world.

“I’m going to get every corporation that wants to support us to get branding as part of the process,” Russell Sioms said. “No one’s against business. We’re against business having too much control over our government.”

Rapper/Actor Common has some harsh words for Drake

Well it looks like it's been open season on Drake as of late. This time it's Chicago native, Common who has issued a statement for Wheelchair Jimmy.

Common, is most recognizable from his conscious rap songs, and his appearances in movies like Just Wright and Smoking Aces, has released a new song and video entitled "Sweet".

In between the verses, Common supposedly took the chance to issue a warning to Jimmy saying something to the affect of:

"Yall n*ggas man, y'all soft motherf*ckers/Singing all around me man, la la la/ You ain't motherf*cking Frank Sinatra/Uh, lil' bitch..../Sweet ass motherf*cker"

According to Global Grind, here's why they believe this is a swipe at Drake:

For starters, besides Kanye West, Drake is the only rapper who seriously likes to sing on his tracks, plus Kanye and Common are good friends.

And for those of you who don't remember, Drake did a Frank Sinatra promo video for the 2010 MTV VMAs.

Once Drake emerged on stage during the MTV VMAs, he began his performance with a show reminiscent of Frank Sinatra's famous stair stroll.

We don't really know why everyone has an issue with Drake and his singing, but it's starting to bug a lot of rappers.

I don't know maybe this has something to do with Serena Williams...only time will tell about this one.

Shawn J of Field Mob responds to Ludacris "Say It To My Face"

Well, that didn't take long. Just a day after Ludacris drops "Say It To My Face", a song where Luda throws a few jabs at former DTP artists Shawn J of Field Mob and Bobby V, Shawn J aired out his grievances in this interview. Allhiphop reports:

Former friend/associate Shawn J., of Field Mob, had some choice words for Luda.

“Luda is pu**y and I will say it to his face,” Shawn J. said.

The last line of the song “Bada Bing” may have been directed at Shawn J., although Ludacris never mentions his name in the track.

“I seen my ringtones on sale on BET and wanted to know where my check at,” Shawn J. said. “Ludacris is a b**ch, he’s pu**y and I’m going in on him from here on out.”

This is not the first time Field Mob has expressed their discontentment with Luda and his record label, Disturbin’ Tha Peace.

In February Field Mob dropped the song “Stack A Million,” which claimed Ludacris owed them money.

Field Mob was signed to DTP from x to y and released two albums for the label, 200n y and 2206′s z.

Detox on hold AGAIN, Dr. Dre takes a break from music

Well, it doesn't look like fans will be getting "Detox" any time soon. Dr. Dre has decided that after he does some work with Slim the Mobster and Kendrick Lamar, he's going to step back from music for a bit.

"I've been working on music for 27 years now, and the longest I've ever been out of the studio in 27 years has been two weeks," he said. "I'm never gonna stop music, it's like air to me. I'm gonna take a little bit of a break, enjoy some time with the family."

Will 'Last Friday' be the new 'Detox'

After years of speculation it seems that we are closer than ever to getting another Friday. For years, Cube has expressed his interests in adding another installment to the "Friday" series, but declared in order for him to do it right, he wants Chris Tucker to be apart of it.

Well according to Tommy "Tiny" Lester, Jr., it's more of a possibility now than it ever has been. He stopped to speak with TMZ, check it out:

Google to launch an online music store

Google is all set to lock horns with Apple iTunes as they unveil plans to launch an online music store.

Wall Street Journal reports that Universal Music Group, EMI Music and Sony Music Entertainment are all in, while Warner Music Group has yet agree to participate due to "concerns over piracy and pricing".

We will have to wait and see how this turns out.

Bullets fired at White House window, suspect apprehended

I'm sure we all had jokes that if there was ever a Black President elected here in the United States, there was going to be an assassination attempt. Well, it's all fun and games until it actually happens. Hip Hop Wired reports:

The Secret Service has confirmed that someone fired a bullet that struck the White House, according to the Associated Press. The President's official security detail says the bullet struck an exterior window of Pres. Barack Obama's place of residence, but was stopped by bullet resistant glass.

A second round was also located outside. Both bullets were discovered on Tuesday (November 15). Witnesses reported hearing gunshots on Friday (November 11) and seeing two vehicles flee the scene at a high rate of speed. An AK-47 assault rifle was found nearby.

The Secret Service has yet to tie the two incidents together through ballistics evidence.

On Wednesday (November 16), authorities arrested Oscar Ortega-Hernandez in connection with last Friday's shooting. Pennsylvania police apprehended Ortega-Hernadez at a hotel near Indiana, Pa around noon. An arrest warrant was issued for Ortega-Hernadez on Friday. Authorities say he moved to the D.C. area over a month ago. The 21-year-old was reported missing by his family in Idaho Falls, Idaho on Halloween.

Ludacris takes aim at Drake on new track "Bada Boom"

So, while Ludacris has been away doing movies, he hasn't stepped completely away from the microphone.

Luda dropped his new mixtape 1.21 Gigawatts: Back To the First Time. On two tracks in particular, Ludacris takes the opportunity to respond to some of his naysayers over the past year.

On "Badda Boom" he takes aim at Young Money and G.O.O.D. Music artists, Drake and Big Sean, respectively. Over the past couple of years or so, both artists had mentioned Ludacris when questioned about their objection to rappers using the rhyme scheme they made popular.

In an interview with Allhiphop.com, Drake had this to say: “Well, that flow has been killed by so many rappers. And, I never want to use that flow again in life. [Laughs] I wanted to take if off my album, because I was like, ‘I shut ‘em down. Onyx.’ I hate the fact that that rhyme is still in there. To be honest, that flow, you can trace it back to like…I trace it back to Big Sean (artist on Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music). That’s the first guy I heard utilize that flow throughout the duration of a verse. I’ll give him that credit. I think Kanye got it from him. Me and Wayne found a dope way to do it. I don’t want to sound cocky, but the best way its been used was on “Forever.” Those lines just all individually make so much sense. They’re all punchlines. Then a bunch of rappers started doing it and using the most terrible references in the world. I don’t want to offend somebody…I hate that rappers picked that flow up. I wish they had left that for people that know how to use it. [They go like] “It’s a parade! MACY’S!”

And, in an interview with MTV.com Big Sean had this to say: “With the super duper flow, I created that one word rhyme style,” Big Sean said in an interview. “Drake really made it more popular, but Drake gave me the credit and was like, ‘I really got that from Big Sean.’ I think some artists just did it so wack man. Every time I say names I get in trouble and it’s like I’m dissing, but some people used it wack. Don’t get it wrong I’m not trying to dis Ludacris or nothing. He’s a great MC. But even though that style got so overused, there was a lot of people who did it great and there was a lot of people who didn’t do it so great. People always ask me was you mad that people took that style from you. I’m like, ‘Nah, that went and shows me how far I can go as an artist.’ I feel like I changed hip-hop. I haven’t even dropped an album yet. So that goes to show me how powerful my mind is.’”

Police across the country clamping down on "Occupy" protests

Well, the Occupy Wall Street movement has been going on for the better part of 3 months now. Though the movement has grown from just New York City to a nation wide and even a global movement, the last few weeks of protests have become increasingly violent.

With tensions beginning to rise on both sides, police and protesters have been clashing with accounts of police brutality popping up from cities across the country.

After a riot broke out a couple of weeks ago in Oakland and a 25 year old man was shot to death, the police have threatened to shut down the campsites, while numerous accounts of police brutality have been reported.



In Seattle, the protests "turned briefly chaotic as police scattered a crowd of rowdy protesters — including a pregnant 19-year-old and an 84-year-old activist — with blasts of pepper spray" according to Yahoo! News.



In Dallas, demonstrators have been arrested, one couple has had their child taken away from them, someone was shoved off a platform by a police officer, and the city is threatening to shut down the encampment.



In New York, tear gas was sprayed in the Zuccotti Park in an effort to shut down their demonstrations. Peep some of the video footage:



In more than one city, videos and photos have shown police brutally attacking peaceful protestors, which is a clear violation of their 1st Amendment right to peacefully assemble.



While cities across the country are attempting to shut down the demonstrations, protestors are giving up hope.

Rocawear pulls 'Occupy' shirt

Imagine people's surprise when one of hip-hop's most affluent figures, Jay-Z was seen wearing an "Occupy All Streets" t-shirt offered by his clothing line Rocawear. People were even more shocked when Rocawear issued this statement:

The ‘Occupy All Streets' T shirt was created in support of the ‘Occupy Wall Street' movement. Rocawear strongly encourages all forms of constructive expression, whether it be artistic, political or social. ‘Occupy All Streets' is our way of reminding people that there is change to be made everywhere, not just on Wall Street. At this time we have not made an official commitment to monetarily support the movement.

This statement that Rocawear did not have plans to donate any proceeds from the sale of the shirts (which would cost $22 per unit) to the Occupy Wall Street movement, caused a bit of backlash.

Well, according to reports, Rocawear has pulled the "Occupy All Streets" t-shirts from their website and has yet to offer any statements as to why.

Legendary rapper/producer, Erick Sermon suffers a heart attack

On the heels of losing hip-hop legend Heavy D, another legendary rapper/producer suffers a heart attack and was just minutes away from dying.

Reports broke on Saturday that Erick Sermon suffered a heart, as a result of high-blood pressure, and was in the hospital recuperating.

According to sources close to Sermon, he's okay but is to stay in the hospital for a few days to undergo a few tests.

Juelz Santana arrested for making "terrorist threats"

According to Allhiphop.com, earlier this week Harlem-bred rapper, Juelz Santana was arrested for making terrorist threats.

TMZ.com reports that Juelz was busted earlier in the week for making unspecified threats.

When police attempted to search the rap star’s car, he refused and the vehicle was subsequently impounded.

Juelz was booked into jail and was released later on $46,500 bail.

Fat Joe: "I think I've done songs with gay rappers...I'm pretty sure of that."

Recently, Fat Joe sat down and did an interview with DJ Vlad. After Vlad asked the Bronx rapper about his opinions about the arrest of New York DJ, Mr. Cee, Fat Joe expressed his thoughts on the gay community as it relates to hip-hop. Check out the clip:

Stephon Maubury calls Michael Jordan "fake"

It's been years since Stephon Maubury has stepped foot on a NBA court and it's been even longer since he's been one of the elite players in the game. But, Maubury apparently still cares about the game. Stephon took a moment to share his thoughts on a not only the lockout, but one of the players turned owner who is keeping players from getting more of a "fair share".

"Micheal Fake Jordan is a sell out. #Period. He forgot which hole he came out of. I said it "Stephon X Marbury"... MJ went from MJ the black cat to a guy who forgot he was a player.

Sell your team if you can't make a profit.. Your just a regular dude now! ... When he rapped the Bulls for 36 million for one year no ones said nothing about that...

T.I. and Tiny to debut their new reality show on VH1

Well, it looks like T.I. and Tiny are going to be the latest couple to allow their fans a look into their private lives. The couple has a new reality show coming out soon entitled "T.I. and Tiny: The Family Hustle". This is the same reality show that started filming as T.I. was riding on his tour bus from prison to the half-way house this past August.

The show will follow the couple as they try to balance their family lives and T.I. hectic career.

“Tameka and I have a strong, loving family,” said T.I. “In this family documentary, you will see the challenges of raising children while balancing a career. It’s like a lot of families, only our home is in the spotlight.”

VH1 will debut their new reality show "T.I. and Tiny: The Family Hustle" on December 5th at 9pm EST.

Penn States ugly situation with no simple solution...

On the same day it was reported legendary Penn State head football coach, Joe Paterno would retire after the season ended, the Board of Trustees made an announcement they decided to relieve Paterno and university president Graham Spanier of their duties. Paterno and Spanier's have been fired as a result of their roles in the mishandling of reports that retired defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky was having inappropriate relationships with underaged boys from The Second Mile foundation. In the wake of this news, the grand jury reports have been made available via the internet.

After the Board of Trustees made the announcement that Paterno had been fired, Paterno had this to say to reporters gathered outside his home:

"I am disappointed with the board of trustees' decision, but I have to accept it."

Later in the evening, students took to the streets in protest of the board's decision. The protests soon turned violent as people began to turn cars over and throw stones. Some protesters were arrested and there have been reports of injuries.

Rap loses another legend...Heavy D passes at the age of 44

Earlier today (November 8), rap legend Heavy D was pronounced dead at a LA hospital. TMZ reports:

We've learned a 911 call was placed from Heavy's Beverly Hills home around 11:25 AM to report an unconscious male on the walkway .

When help arrived, we're told Heavy D was conscious and speaking -- and was transported to a nearby hospital.

He died a short time later.

Heavy D, born Dwight Arrington Myers, has a career that spans over 25 years. The rapper, producer and actor impressive resume includes 3 Platinum albums, 2 Gold albums, an appearance in the hit movie Life, and hit TV shows such as Living Single, In Living Color, A Different World and the Tracey Morgan Show. At the time of his death, he was preparing the release of another album.

Boxing legend Joe Frazier passes away at 67

The sports world celebrates the life of boxing great Joe Frazier. Frazier is most famous for his legendary bouts with Muhammad Ali, including the "Thrilla in Manila" and the 1971 bout where Frazier handed Ali his first professional loss. The former Olympic gold medalist passed away in his Philadelphia home, due to his complications with liver cancer. Check out the piece ESPN did on the legend, "Smokin" Joe Frazier:

CPS Seizes Baby From ‘Occupy Dallas’ Site

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A homeless family living at the ‘Occupy Dallas’ camp said that they will find a new place to stay in order to keep their baby. CBS 11 News was on the scene as officers with the Dallas Police Department and Child Protective Services took custody of the 9-month-old boy on Thursday afternoon.
