Benzino shot the way to his mother's funeral

Rapper turned reality TV star, Benzino, was shot earlier today while he was on his way to his mother's funeral. Hip Hop Wired has more on the developing story:

Born Raymond Scott, the Love & Hip Hop Atlanta cast member was driving a red Dodge SUV that got shot at by someone who reportedly driving a Bentley.

According WCVB the shooting occurred on Route 3 in Duxbury, Mass. while Benzino was on the way to his mother's funeral.

Benzino was the only gunshot victim. Reportedly his injury is non-fatal and he was taken to the Duxbury police station by a passerby before eventually being transported to South Shore hospital.

The Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz, told WCVB that the occupants of the vehicles knew each other.

The Boston Globe reports that the procession was heading to St. Peter's Church in Plymouth and although the family arrived late, the funeral did occur. Allegedly the violence was sparked over an argument between family members, but this has not been confirmed.

The driver of the Bentley has been arrested and will be charged with attempted murder.
