With the Grand Prairie Family YMCA providing the backdrop, Special invited speakers Rep. Rodney Anderson (Republican, Texas House of Representatives) & Rep. Marc Veasey (Democrat, Texas House of Representatives) will deliver messages of importance for area youth to register to vote and participate in the political process. Youth voters that attend will be registered to vote and also educated on certain parts of the politicial process that they need assistance with understanding.
Free and open to the public, the Register To Speak Out! voter registration event will feature performances from for performing artists for the Rock, Hip Hop, R&B and Jazz genres respectively. Legendary Radio Personality Sam Putney, formerly of KKDA-FM 104.5 will deliver a special message to young voters as well. This is a kid friendly event as Popcorn, snow cones and a bounce house will be available.
“As we approach November 6, the most important election day in the history of the United States, it’s so important that my fellow young people get involved and get the right information about the political process,” said Vincent “Heartbreak” Tucker, Founder of Register To Speak Out! “It makes it that much special that Grand Prairie City Commissioner Ed Gray chose to team up with us to reach young and first-time voters in the city of Grand Prairie.”
Register to Speak Out! is a voter registration partner of nationally recognized Rock the Vote and is assisting with their goal of registering 1.5 million young people to vote this year.
This event will be taking place September 22, 2012 Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Grand Prairie Family YMCA, 4556 South Carrier Parkway, Grand Prairie, Texas, 75052.
