5 California young men killed in a drunk driving incident moments after tweeting "YOLO"

This is a sad case of being young, having a good time and not thinking clearly. Five young men were killed in a car crash in California moments after tweeting "YOLO". KTLA.COM has the details:

Alcohol and excessive speed are being blamed for a deadly weekend accident in Ontario that claimed the lives of five young men.

The accident happened at about 1:40 a.m. Sunday on Haven Avenue south of Creekside Drive, according to Ontario Fire Department officials.

Police say the driver ran a red light as he was driving along Haven Avenue and lost control, flipping the car and finally landing in the backyard of a home.

Four people inside the Nissan were pronounced dead at the scene.

Another occupant was ejected in the crash. He was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver has been identified as 21-year-old Jonathan Watson.

The passengers were 23-year old Marquell Bogan, 23-year old JaJuan Bennett, 20-year-old Dylan George and 21-year-old Ervin McKinness who tweeted just before the crash.

"Drunk (expletive) going 120 drifting corners," was posted at 1:19 a.m. Sunday on the Twitter account belonging to @ink2flashyy.

The post ended with the acronym Y.O.L.O., which means "You Only Live Once."

The account belonged to Ervin McKinness, 21, of Ontario, according to the San Bernardino Sun..

The father of JaJuan Bennett is pledging to take action to help prevent future tragedies like this one.

"From this point on, I would like to be an advocate, put myself in a position to speak out against drinking and driving," Wendell Bennett said.

"I'm very sad, not only for JaJuan, but for his other friends that were in the car."

  1. YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE. It’s too late for these young people. They may haven’t really understood the value of these words. I hope this will serve as a lesson to others. Live purposely and value the life that we have. Refrain from doing those things that will only harm you, or in this case, take your life.
