Remember the movie American Gangster starring Denzel Washington? The story about Fank Lucas; the country boy who moved to the big city, worked for the infamous Bumpy Johnson and eventually became one of the biggest heroin dealers in the world? Well it looks like he's back on the wrong side of the law. Hip Hop Wired Reports:
The former 81-year-old heroin kingpin, who Denzel Washington portrayed in the film American Gangster, has been charged with theft by deception for deceiving the U.S. Treasury.
According to The New York Daily News, authorities busted the Sr. Gangsta after he claimed he lost a Social Security check and received a replacement and then proceeded to cash them both. (My man...)
Total value = $17,300.
Lucas allegedly told the U.S. Treasury he lost a Social Security check with funds earmarked for his 15-year-old son and asked for a duplicate, prosecutors said.
Then he cashed both checks in Newark, they said.
Lucas denied doing anything wrong and is reportedly been trying to work out a deal to keep out of jail.
