Police officer pleads not guilty to the shooting death of Ramarley Graham

Another case of police shooting a young teen, a New York officer is being charged with manslaughter over the shooting death of Ramarley Graham. Hip Hop Wired:

Richard Haste, the NYPD officer charged with manslaughter for shooting and killing 18-year-old Ramarley Graham, entered a not guilty plea during his arraignment Wednesday (June 13).

Haste is accused of killing Graham after breaking into the Bronx house the he shared with his family. According to the department, Haste entered the residence as a part of a drug bust, and allegedly suspected Graham of selling drugs. Fellow officers, and relatives of the teen victim were all on hand in court, to show advocate for opposite sides. Graham's family is also said to be unhappy that Haste was charged with manslaughter instead of murder.

While the NYPD has yet to release and official statement on the shooting, they have come under fire for racial profiling, and excessive force inflicted by their officers.

Graham's story has also caught the attention of Rev. Al Sharpton, who has thrown his support behind making sure that justice is served in the case.
