Brooklyn rapper Ra Diggs charged with murder
In another the episode of "When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong", Brooklyn rapper Ra Diggs has been charged with murder, after he apparently bragged about it on Twitter. Hip Hop Wired reports:
A Brooklyn rapper and his online boasts of dodging murder charges have landed the already jailed gang leader additional charges of murder after a Brooklyn Federal Court grand jury handed down an indictment ruling on Monday (Febrauary 13), reports the New York Daily News. Ronald “Ra Diggs” Herron and his bragging of beating a 2001 murder charge on Twitter has led prosecutors to slap Herron with two additional murder charges connected to his crime enterprise.
Ra Diggs, who has an affiliation with down south rapper Waka Flocka Flame and tough-talking Brooklyn rapper Uncle Murda, found himself in hot water after a tweet stating that he “beat a body” allegedly in reference to the 2001 murder case of Fredrick Brooks. Diggs reportedly beat the case by way of witness intimidation from his crewmembers. Diggs' gang is said to be an offshoot of the “Murderous Mad Dog” branch of the notorious Bloods gang that have taken hold in several sections of New York City.
Diggs and Uncle Murda rapped in a duo under the name Murda Team, with their tracks and videos unabashedly replete with drug and gun violence. Prosecutors say that after the Brooks killing, Herron killed twice more in 2008 and 2009. Setting up shop in the Gowanus Houses in Boerum Hill, Herron and his organization was notorious for running a drug operation in the housing projects.
Already in jail since October 2010 for drug charges, prosecutors are continuing to build a strong case against Herron.
“Ronald Herron and his gang terrorized a Brooklyn community for more than a decade and he temporarily got away with murder by threatening and intimidating witnesses only to return to the streets of Brooklyn to kill and kill again,” said Brooklyn U.S. Attorney Loretta Lynch.
